Under rating threshold Great Potential, Just could use a little boost to make up for the low population of players. It's pretty sad to see that there's no one to fight after you reach a certain level. A lot of people depend on fights/boss fights for most of their exp needed to level since you could only get so much from energy based exp.
Any way you can provide npcs that respawn every 10min or so to allow players to have something to hit, or else we just sit around waiting for our energy to refill, and for some people it's a very long time. Under rating threshold Speaking as a potential new player, this game has serious problems. The biggest is that the interface alone makes me want to close the tab. Is this really the best layout? Sorry, my screen isn't 3 feet tall.
If I've been here for 10 seconds, do I really need to see things that are locked until level 20? Also, why no tutorial?
Third, the twitter/facebook/game pimping is just shameless. And where do i see my loyalty points and favor points? I don't see them anywhere on the interface. Under rating threshold In 2009, I came across Mob Wars on Facebook. For whatever reason, I don't recall why, I jumped ship and moved to Mafia Wars.

Which turned out to be a bad idea. My gaming interest shifted for a while. Recently, while browsing around for a new game, I saw this one again. The screenshots interested me. It looked very different.
It is different. Compared to '09, this game is awesome! I am sooo glad I re-discovered it. Given the current state of the social mob game genre, this wins a few gold stars. Under rating threshold Well, I decided to stick with this game and I gotta say, it's way more fun at level 272 than it is at level 50. My main complaint is still the long 2 day cooldown on bosses.
Sure, you can do other people's bosses on the Raids tab, but each player is operating on a 2 day cooldown for each boss and you can only join if they share their boss fights, so you can't always find the boss you're looking for. Plus the long cool down time means it takes weeks to unlock new bosses, since you need to beat the prievous boss 5 times to unlock the next one. The whole pay2win thing turns out to be a non issue, since you can get plenty of free Favor Points from doing Turf War challenges, and the number of friends in your mob has a bigger impact on your fight strength than your equipment. Under rating threshold Here I was just avoiding this on Facebook for years because I was irritated that people were flooding my feed with requests for whatever bonuses they got for recruiting people, but it turns out that it was actually an awful game, too.
I'm sure the developers are going to continue doing their PR thing by spinning this and/or other comments into, 'If you try harder, you just might find some fun in it!' But seriously, fellow Kongregants, if you're reading this, just go play some more Gemcraft.
Basically you need to reach level 50, the game sucks so here are tips on how to do it:Put everything into energy till lvl 15 or so, keep lvling up while getting achieves for missions(if you can bother with it – add a few friends in game you will see in chat and join the elite mobsters if you see it in the news feed. Also get the achieves for simple stuff like bank depositing and getting big income. Those extra stats come in handy. After that, start putting most into stamina, you will need both stamina and energy to lvl up instantly, use stamina on bosses. If you see you might get stuck at lvl – attack world boss with 5x strike – almost a guarantee lvl.If you did everything right, you should reach lvl 45 or so without any problem at all, past that you are free to use any additional bonuses like challenges(give insane amount of exp, some of those)Heck, you can even use the favor points to replenish:DThere shouldn’t be a problem rushing 50 pretty much, but game sucks. Ryan, the game sucks because it’s just one of the many “zynga-like” facebook games (even if mob wars came first) that comes with the annoying pack made of:1) Ultra simple and poor game (but hey you can use the same mechanics and turn into a vampire-like, a zombie game, or anything else like many did) that pretty much just repeats itself over and over and over2) Annoy your friends with a click (and screw the Kongregate community in the process) flooding them with these msgs: “Hey friend!
Come join me in Mob Wars: La Cosa Nostra, a game where you can build a Mob family, complete jobs with friends, fight rival families and much more!”. Hey, wanna finish this quest easily?Invite some friends. Wanna get stronger to fight other people? The more friends you invite, the stronger you get. Oh, you don’t have hundreds of friends?Just go and flood everyone with requests:D3) Cash!
You can see advertisement of stuff to buy everywhere in the game. Some could call it p2w, but when you can’t exactly win anythingI’m not sure you can call it that way. This is really the kind of game I expected that would never come to Kong, too bad it did. There may be other games like this but there are a handful of us who find this game enjoyable. So what if it is simple? You should find the badges easier to get and then you can leave, and who doesn’t want “free” badges. There is no need to say what a piece of garbage a game is.The “Annoy Your Friends” aspect only applies if you click those things and message your actual friends, and then that is your fault for pestering them.
Otherwise you can just add mobsters in the chat, or from all the other sources. You don’t even need to know them. What do you mean pay to win? Sure, you can boost yourself to become a bit better, but with all the ways to gain favor points I don’t see where you can get off saying it is a pay to win. The majority of advertisements are there for your convenience if you want to pay for them, using the stuff you can get in the game. For instance, “Buy Hawk Fighter! Only 500 Left! Just 30 fp!” That is easily attainable due to the fact you can get favor points by leveling up, challenges, lottery, etc, and it is needed when arming yourself to attack/defend from other mobsters.I don’t understand why so many people have to be so negative towards this game.
Why can’t they pass up the badges, or do them without the moaning and groaning. RyanDestro:Per the leave part, is there a way to actually leave the game? Such as deleting your character, and/or being able to permanently block messages originating for this game over the Kong messaging system? (EDIT: Yes, you can block individual games. In the “Game Messages” tab within “My Messages”, the users will have “Block” in their panels next to the request. That Block isn’t for the user, it’s for the individual game. Click it, and then you have blocked the specific game that was sending the message, not the user.
It’ll clear up all outstanding messages from the same game, too.As far as the pay-to-win, it has to do with the PvP aspect. With money, you can purchase the better equipment right off the bat. And what I gathered from the ‘friends’ system, you can buy LOTS of the better equipment, have it in your inventory, and it’ll be ‘carried’ by said friends (or hired hands, again with premium cash), boosting your stats up much higher (again, if my interpretation of the mechanics is right). You can’t ‘avoid’ PvP, because your user is dumped in a list of possible targets, and your HP is shared amongst these modes (I think Dawn of the Dragons separated PvP HP from quest/boss HP).I didn’t like the game. I tend to be against these kinds of games, though I play for the badges. Occasionally, they may actually have interesting mechanics and I’ll stick around longer, but in this case, it wasn’t compelling.
The bad UI forcing me to click-drag select just to scroll downwards in their hosted window was one of them. But it’s the cookie-cutter nature of these Facebook-style clones that makes it worse. Particularly the ‘Human Resources’ aspect. The good thing is that it was a quick badge, mostly thanks to the level-up refill. I believe Bahaumaut explained well why a lot of people are “negative” about this game.
Regarding the “simple and poor” comment, I said it because there are so many games like this, with the same mechanics. You just repeat the same thing over and over.
I played both Mafia/Mob Wars for a while around 3 years ago, and this version is exactly the same thing that it was back then, it feels like I’m playing the same game, so I’m not sure what is good about it. The only good thing I see is that it’s a good business for them, selling several items, including limited ones, having energy system, and using players to spam about their game.I didn’t notice we could block messages from individual games, but still, I’m also against this kind of game here because on facebook it began the same way, with Mafia Wars, Farmville and others.
After a while we had to block hundreds of games individually.I think that if we decide to invite someone to play a game it should be because we think the game is good and deserve that and not because we won’t get stronger otherwise. It’s either “be a strong spammer mobster or a wimp”.
Come to think of it, back then I thought that kreds were used to donate money to developers whose game we like, i.e. To show support and not to buy in-game benefits. Moreover, there is no penalty whatsoever for having more mobs; simply the more, the better. In other words, it invites spamming. Just look at the comments section, and the invite threads flooding the forum. Compare them with comments in other games here in kongregate, and it is obvious how these kind of games are difficult to fit in with the kongregate people.
Adding badges to the game especially is an affront to the many badge hunters, who are obsessive enough to play games they don’t like just to earn the badges.
